A Google Maps Camera Car was recently spotted in the city of Oswego. It was being prepared for a day of capturing images. These specially-equipped cars are fitted with various directional cameras, GPS units and laser range scanners for recording rough 3D images which are then “stitched” together to provide panoramic views.
The 2013-2014 school year is officially under way and The Buccaneer Junior/Senior High School celebrated it by hosting the Fall Harvest Dinner on October 9 at the Scriba Fire Station.
The Oswego County Legislature recognized October 15 as National White Cane Safety Day to promote awareness, education and advocacy for issues that affect individuals with a vision impairment that requires them to carry a white cane.
The river’s end bookstore is offering the next in its series of programs for writers and those interested in becoming writers. “Gift-Wrapped: Capturing Our Holiday Memories” will offer a relaxed and reflective writing experience during the often-hectic holiday season.
Oswego Players’ director Richard Mosher and his cast are busy with rehearsals for the next to last show of the Players’ 75th season. It has been a great time with all the members working toward a common goal of continuing to bring quality community theatre to our very faithful audiences.

The following students were recently awarded a degree from Binghamton University.
Oswego Girl Scouts were well represented recently at the second Camp Hollis Family Harvest Day. They sponsored a cabin and decorated it for Halloween. The girls had fun handing out candy along with Girl Scout stickers and bookmarks to all the trick-or-treaters.
Pathfinder Industries celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting on October 11. They are up and running in their new building just six months after a devastating fire.
