Second graders at Fairley Elementary School ventured into Cayuga County on Oct. 17 to visit the Sterling Nature Center. The nature center has over ten miles of hiking trails and two miles of lake shore.
Student representatives from eight area school districts used their knowledge in a variety of subjects as they set sail on the first Oswego County Academic Youth League competition of the school year Thursday at the Fulton War Memorial.
Oswego County Opportunities to set up a display to make the public aware of runaways and the homeless in Oswego County. The project will be on done in East Park during November. In 2012, OCO assisted 897 youth who found themselves without permanent stable housing.
The Oswego City School District Board of Education will meet on Tuesday at the Oswego Middle School Carl Palmitesso Theatre. The meeting will be called to order at 5 p.m., but the board will move to an executive session to discuss teacher tenure, negotiations and specific employees.
Some Oswego High School sports teams are prepping for post season competition while others are winding down the Fall campaign.
Just one more regular season show remains before the Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers compete in the season finale at the Syracuse University Carrier Dome. This Saturday at 6:30 p.m. the Central Square Red Hawks will host the New York State Field Band Conference competition at their stadium behind the high school.
Sixth-grade students at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School learned the value of teamwork and trust during a field trip to Camp Hollis on Oct. 11. Divided into three groups, the students participated in a blind nature walk, cooperative games and a challenge course, which was a favorite among many of the students.
Novelis campaign coordinator, Dick Delaney addressed those present, including; employee campaign committee members, team leaders and Novelis plant officials and congratulated his co-workers for their generous support of previous campaigns.
The Zonta Club of Oswego’s 2013 Woman of The Year Achievement event will take place on Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. They will be recognizing Deb Deeb for her outstanding contributions.
The breakfast will be held on November10 from 8 – 11:30 a.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge. The funds raised will be used for supplies for the pack, awards for the boys and financial assistance for lower income families that want to be involved in Cub Scouts.
