The issue of veterans having to pay for the designation was brought to the senator’s attention by country clerks, led by Oswego County Clerk Michael Backus and Monroe County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo.
Jazz guitarist Peter Bernstein visited Paul Brewster’s Oswego Middle School eight grade general music classes while in town for an evening performance at SUNY Oswego. Bernstein is a highly respected musician, touring worldwide as both a soloist and support musician.
The Oswego Buc Boosters hosted their biggest Homecoming celebration yet at their sixth annual BucFest held on September 28 at Oswego High School’s Joe Wilber Field. It was a beautiful, sunny fall day for the festivities. Students of all ages, parents, and community members participated in the many games and school spirit building activities and helped cheer the Oswego Bucs football team on to a Homecoming victory.
I was able to check another experience off my Bucket List. John and I recently enjoyed Mid-Lakes Navigation’s day tour on the Oswego Canal. When we traveled by car along routes 481, 57, and 49 I would catch glimpses of the Oswego Canal and wondered what the world looked like from the water. Mid-Lakes Navigation operates tours on the Oswego Canal twice a year – four opportunities to enjoy the Oswego Canal.
Projects ranging from auto detailing to paraffin wax demonstrations were in focus Thursday during an Oswego County BOCES open house event on the Mexico campus. Teachers highlighted their class offerings and students showcased their work during the two-hour event, which gave visitors some insight into the programs and services that BOCES provides.
Construction at Oswego’s first assisted living program residence wrapped up recently and it will soon be welcoming its first residents. St. Francis Commons is located immediately behind Little Lukes Childcare Center and adjacent to Charles E Riley Elementary School. St. Francis Commons Assisted Living Residence in Oswego invites the community to an open house, taking place October 12 and 13 from 1 – 4 p.m. each day.
Katherine E. Abramski, of Oswego, has been selected for membership in the St. Lawrence University chapter of Psi Chi, the international psychology honorary society.
The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on October 27, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
