OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Buc Boosters hosted their biggest Homecoming celebration yet at their sixth annual BucFest held on September 28 at Oswego High School’s Joe Wilber Field.
It was a beautiful, sunny fall day for the festivities.
Students of all ages, parents, and community members participated in the many games and school spirit building activities and helped cheer the Oswego Bucs football team on to a Homecoming victory over neighborhood rival Fulton Red Raiders.
In addition to some of the favorite games from last year like the Bounce House, obstacle course and photo booth, the BucFest committee added the Velcro wall and Games on a Roll, a trailer filled with video games.
And the popular Side Winder amusement ride was back again from last year for the thrill seeking attendees.
BucFest committee chair Judy Queale-Dunsmoor said, “Every year we introduce new and exciting activities to BucFest so our students of all ages can have a great time. The Buc Boosters’ goal for this event is to offer our students a chance to come together and celebrate being Buccaneers, to show our school pride and to support each other. We keep it affordable and fun.”
The $2 admission included the Homecoming football game as the Boosters encouraged attendees to stay and watch.
Each entrant received free “Buc Blue Beads” and a snack bag donated by Frito Lay.
Most of the games were free.
There was a repeat appearance by G&G Reptiles and well-known DJ, “Marty the One Man Party” from radio station 93Q.
An annual favorite, the dunk booth was just as crowded as ever as kids of all ages lined up to dunk their favorite teachers and coaches.
The Children’s Museum of Oswego was a first-time participant at BucFest this year, and offered many games for children of all ages to enjoy.
The Buc Blue hair and nail salon was in full swing with more kids than ever primping in their favorite Buccaneer blue and white.
This event is a favorite with students who don their school colors and then head over to cheer on the Buccaneer football team at Joe Wilber field.
There were parents and students doing face painting and applying Buccaneer tattoos, a pumpkin painting table, and even a station where one could assemble a “candy lei” filled with their favorite sweets.
The Boosters had a raffle table filled with chances to win everything from health memberships at the YMCA to a fruit basket from C’s Farms to two large “Buccaneer Baskets” filled with popular school spirit items.
Many local businesses generously donated these items.
