Dick Drosse and his wife were out at Great Bear recently. By chance, they caught a glimpse of Santa Claus. “I was lucky to get this one photo of Santa,” Dick told Oswego County Today. It inspired him to pen an Ode To St. Nick.
It looks like Santa Claus won’t have trouble with his sleigh tonight. “History is on our side for a white Christmas,” according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. “Each year we have about a 66.6 percent chance of a white Christmas. They say more snow is on the way, we’ll have to wait and see how much.”
“NORAD has supported Santa Claus’ Christmas Eve operations for more than 50 years and we are always delighted to help,” said Col. Dawne Deskins, EADS commander. “I can assure everyone that EADS will do everything in its power to assist Santa with his critical mission.”
Students at Michael A. Maroun Elementary School in Phoenix enjoyed the true spirit of Christmas as they came together to make Oswego County Opportunities’ Blizzard Bag program a school project that would involve all students in every grade.
Oswego High School students, on their first day of vacation, volunteered to assist the Salvation Army and the annual red kettle drive.
