As Hannibal Central School District students become acclimated with the new Common Core curriculum, parents are learning about the new standards as well. District administrators hosted the second Common Core Parent Information Night of the school year Nov. 18, with roughly two dozen parents in attendance.
Sounds of the holiday season filled the Hannibal High School auditorium Dec. 3 as more than 30 members of the senior chorus performed in concert.
After several successful test runs of the Hannibal Central School District’s new emergency communication system, the notification tool has gone live. The system, Global Connect, uses cloud-based technology that allows the district to call, email or text important information to parents, staff, board members and others.
On Dec. 18, John C. Birdlebough High School auditorium was bright with musical delight as students and directors presented a joint holiday concert featuring both band and vocal ensembles.

This past election, voters were asked to authorize that our State Constitution be amended to allow for the construction of up to seven casinos in New York State. Voters approved the measure by a 57% to 43% margin. It was one of the most controversial referendums in recent history. Not only was the measure itself controversial, but the language explaining the referendum was also controversial.
The following events and activities are set at SUNY Oswego for January.
They will be held at 1 p.m. at the Mexico branch of the Oswego County Federal Credit Union on Route 3 (5828 Scenic Ave). The first will take place on January 6 at 1 p.m. with special guest speaker, Jim Farfaglia, author of “Of the Earth” Stories from Oswego County Muck Farms.
