Now through November 17, the Oswego Public Library Art Gallery features the works of Eileen Belaska Sprague. Ranging from landscapes to flowers, boats, and city scenes, Eileen’s art is bright and vibrant. Eileen creates all the seasonal displays at the library’s circulation desk and adds individual flowers or leaves with the names of staff and volunteers.
State Police in Fulton arrested 36-year-old Diana A. Martin of 315 Cole Road in the town of Granby for second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Investigation revealed Martin allegedly struck a child several times with a wooden object, causing bruising to the child.
Members of the Oswego Players, a local theatrical group which is celebrating its 75th anniversary, have donated proceeds from their recent performances of Death in the OR to a fund that honors an exceptional Oswego Hospital nurse each year.
The Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego provided an elegant backdrop on Saturday night as a large crowd gathered to honor some of the top 2013 Oswego Speedway achievers from the Novelis Supermodified and PathFinder Bank race divisions. A group of six worthy inductees also entered the Oswego Speedway Mitchell’s Speedway Press Hall of Fame.
Braving the cold and windy conditions recently, more than 50 people came to Great Bear Springs for a tree pruning presentation. With the orchard trees having been unattended for over 30 years, they were ideal for demonstrating. Fernando Araya a local arborist was the presenter and instructor.

Battle Island Golf Course, in Fulton, was the site October 30 of the annual Traffic Safety Champion Awards sponsored by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. The 13 winners come from all areas of law enforcement and the community at large who go above and beyond in their pursuit of safety education.
Representatives from the Oswego Lions Club recently presented Lois Luber, resource development director with the United Way of Greater Oswego County and chair of the planning committee for the United Way’s annual Stone Soup Luncheon Aaron Thorpe with a check for $500 in support of this year’s luncheon.
