Two Oswego County BOCES Career and Technical Education students recently climbed the ranks into the elite as they passed their Briggs & Stratton Master Service Technician tests.
Bradford W. Snow Jr., 54, a resident of Baldwinsville, NY, passed away Thursday October 24, 2013, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.
Nearly two dozen Fairgrieve Elementary School students were recognized with physical education awards during a Morning Express ceremony on Monday. The awards honored students who demonstrated respect, responsibility, safety and problem solving in physical education classes. Each student received a certificate honoring them for their success in meeting the behavioral expectations.
Twenty-one Volney Elementary School students were recognized for being committed to their school work and achieving academic success. The honorees were recognized by their principal during the school’s October School Spirit Assembly and presented with a special “’On-A-Roll’ certificate.
According to the State Health Department, breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in New York State. Each year in New York, more than 14,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and almost 2,700 women die from the disease. It is estimated that one in eight women will develop breast cancer during her life.
The Oswego High School Marching Bucs completed their first year competing in Small Schools1 classification with a fourth place season-ending performance at the Syracuse University Carrier Dome. Oswego received a score of 85.15 at the New York State Field Band Conference Championship event. Just two weeks ago the band captured the Freedom Cup in Nazareth, Pa., and last week earned first place in their class at Central Square.
October is responsibility month at Volney Elementary School. Students at the school have been demonstrating responsible behavior in their classrooms, in the cafeteria, on the bus, and in their community.
The doors will be open at 6 a.m. for an Election Day bake sale on Nov. 5 at the Bowen’s Corners United Methodist Church, located west of Fulton at 758 State Route 176. Many freshly made homemade pies will be featured.
