Representatives from a number of Oswego County’s human services agencies will host an Oswego County Youth Program Forum on November 15 at the SUNY Oswego Phoenix Extension Site. Sign-in begins at 8:30 a.m. with the program starting promptly at 9 a.m.
The book Who Killed Carolee? will be released October 31 at a book signing to be held at rivers end bookstore, 19 W. Bridge St., Oswego, beginning at 6 p.m. The book release is in conjunction with the 45th anniversary of the hit-and-run death of Carolee Sadie Ashby.
Halloween may be a fun holiday for kids, but for parents, trick-or-treat time may be a bit tricky. Sheriff Reuel A. Todd would like to provide the following safety tips to help you plan a safe, fun Halloween for your family.
Each of the 37 individual sirens will be tested between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Monday, Nov. 4 through Thursday, Nov. 7. The testing on Friday, Nov. 8, will include a full-scale simultaneous activation of all 37 sirens for three to five minutes.
The basics of sewing for a new generation return to CNY Arts Center this week. Another training series of Sew You Can classes for ages 6-18 start Nov. 2 from 1 to 2 p.m. for ages 6 to 8, and 2:30 to 4 p.m. for ages 9 to 12 at the Arts Center, 357 State St., through the Park Street entrance in Fulton.
Voice faculty Mihoko Tsutsumi, Todd Graber, Nancy James and Robert Allen will sing selections whose composers range from Debussy to Beethoven, Strauss to Charpentier, accompanied by Rebecca Horning on piano.
At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council approved Local Law No. 3 of 2013. It authorizes a property tax levy in excess of the limit established in General Municipal Law §3-c. It doesn’t mean that the city will impose a tax greater than the cap, the mayor noted recently. The taxpayers would be protected from a technicality in the law that could penalize the city.
The Oswego City School District Board of Education is expected to officially pass a resolution hiring Benjamin Halsey as the new superintendent of schools. The meeting will be held at the Education Center second floor curriculum room begining at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
To celebrate this beautiful season and all that it offers, the students enrolled in the Project Explore Program, formerly the Multi-Occupations Program, at Oswego County BOCES put their classroom skills into action and organized a Fall Festival.
