The Oswego City School District Board of Education will conduct its regular meeting on September 24 at Oswego High School’s Anthony J. Murabito Media Center. The public session is expected to reconvene at 6 p.m.
Oswego Hospital staff members practiced for a disaster they hope will never occur. Some 40 hospital employees wore protective suits as they hosed down victims exposed to a hazardous substance in a special tent who were then triaged outside the hospital’s emergency entrance on September 19.
Oswego County Opportunities recently honored Elizabeth Liberti and Robin France of OCO’s Education Services with the Outstanding Employee Award. Nominated by fellow employees, the pair was recognized for their commitment, resourcefulness and dedication to OCO and those they serve.
State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced she has obtained $960,000 in funding for a key project that will create jobs in Oswego County and support the region’s outdoor recreation industry. The project is slated to include the removal of an abandoned New York Central Railroad bridge on Route 13 and maintenance of the snowmobile trail in the town of Williamstown.
The 450 employees from affiliate’s St. Luke Health Services, Bishop’s Commons and Michaud Residential Health Services had the chance to participate in a Wellness Fair which took place recently at St. Luke in Oswego. The Wellness Fair offered staff a wide range of information about issues affecting health and well-being.
Lakeside Artisans welcomes its newest artist, Bert Leighton, and her solar paintings. Leighton, a retired elementary teacher who lives in Oswego, has studied art with nationally known watercolorists in numerous workshops from Maine to Florida.
The public is invited to a free Safety Seat Check at Oswego Lowe’s, Route 104 on Saturday. The hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Fun family activities and games sponsored by Lowes and area agencies available all day long.
