Hundreds of spectators will pack Joe Wilber Field this Saturday night for the annual Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers “Pageant of Champions.” The “Pageant of Champions” usually attracts a standing-room only crowd and begins at 6 p.m. with Small School 3 Westmoreland followed by Large School 3 Auburn. The Small School 2 bands in competition include Jordan-Elbridge and Phoenix while the Large School 2 bands will be Central Square and Cicero-North Syracuse.
Students in Kerrie Phillips’ fifth grade class at Fairgrieve Elementary School recently presented a program during Morning Express to celebrate the birthday of the United States Constitution. The students gave a brief history of the Constitution and facts about the Constitutional Convention.

On September 5, the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, celebrated its 40th anniversary at SUNY Oswego, with volunteers, non-profit representatives and numerous dignitaries present to honor the contribution of more than 400 volunteers.
Whether onstage, onscreen or in the classroom, kids get a lot of attention at CNY Arts Center. As fall arrives,registration is open for new classes designed specifically to meet the interests of all children are being scheduled.
For the second year Oswego DAWN (Democratic Action Women’ s Network) selects an outstanding community woman and leader for the Eleanor Roosevelt Recognition Award. For 2013, Rita Hooper has been chosen to receive this honor. The award will be presented at the annual Eleanor Roosevelt Recognition Dinner to be held October 2, at The Oasis Banquet Hall, Thunder Island.
Funds raised by the event will benefit an annual scholarship in the memory of Harold “H” Dowd. “H” was a member of the Fulton Lions Club who was instrumental in keeping the Oswego Lions Club going when it was on the verge of disbanding in 1996.
The Oswego Area CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Oct. 20 at 1:30 p.m. The walk will begin and end at the Oswego YMCA Armory, 265 W. First St., Oswego. Registration begins at 1 p.m. Longer and shorter walks of one to four times around the bridges allow walkers of various abilities to participate.
Travis T. Kearns of Oswego has enrolled at Clemson University. Kearns is majoring in Biological Sciences.
