RSVP to celebrate 40 years at luncheon recognizing volunteers
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, will celebrate 40 years in Oswego County with a recognition luncheon Sept. 5. The event, titled “Volunteers Are the Heart and Soul of the Community,” will take place at SUNY Oswego’s Hewitt Union.
Oswego Rotary Club Supports Stuff-A-Bus Campaign
The Oswego Rotary Club has joined area businesses and organizations in collecting back to school items in support of United Way’s Annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign. Rotary recently held a ‘Bring a Backpack Day’ to help the Stuff-A-Bus campaign meet the need for backpacks.
Oswego School Board Meets August 13
The meeting will convene at 5 p.m., but the board will move to executive session to discussion a variety of concerns including specific personnel matters, negotiations and litigation. It is anticipated the public portion of the meeting will reconvene at approximately 6 p.m.
‘Blue Ribbon Ride’ Against Child Abuse Ready to Roll
Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, Karrie Damm announced that plans are under way for the agency’s 10th Annual Blue Ribbon Ride Against Child Abuse. Scheduled for September 7, rain or shine, the CAC’s Blue Ribbon Ride Against Child Abuse is a family friendly, full-day event with something for everyone.
Retired Teacher in CNY Arts Center’s Spotlight
The CNY Arts Center of Fulton has announced its next Author’s Spotlight, a monthly program where community members meet local writers who have recently published a book. On August 21 at 7 p.m., Mary Slimmer will present her young adult novel, The Lighthouse in Grove Park School.
