Flood waters in the Town of Sandy Creek west of Route 3 along the shoreline of Lake Ontario are beginning to recede today (Jan. 15), town officials reported, but people in the area should continue to use caution and follow flood safety tips. The water has receded about 8 inches overnight following flooding that occurred along North Pond in the Town of Sandy Creek.
A seized elevator motor unit, heavy smoke, and high heat conditions at 200 Water Street along with burnt food smoking at a West Seventh Street residence kept firefighters busy Tuesday night. No injuries were reported at either scene.
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau is accepting applications for mini-grants for 2014. Not for profit community organizations can apply for up to $1,000 for activities for youth during hours when school is not in session. Projects must be completed by the end of 2014 and provide a direct service to children and families in Oswego County.
