Regents Decision to Modify Common Core Overdue but Not Enough

The Board of Regents’ decision last week to delay full implementation of the graduation requirements was welcome news but still doesn’t go far enough. Few take issue with the idea that we should raise learning standards in our schools and the idea of the Common Core is to do just that. The problem in New York and elsewhere has been with the implementation of this curriculum.

Oswego Rotarians Host ‘Rigoletto’

“Rigoletto – The Oswego Story,” as created by Mack Richardson, is updated from the original setting in 16th century Mantua, Italy, to Oswego in the 1920s Prohibition Era. The action takes place in various locales downtown and at the Inn on the Lake.

Joanna LeFevre Named to Dean’s List at Grove City College

Joanna LeFevre, a junior Marketing Management major at Grove City College, has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2013 semester. Joanna is a 2011 graduate of Oswego High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph LeFevre (Linda) from Oswego.

Fulton Republican Committee Endorses Katco for 24th Congressional District

At the regularly scheduled monthly meeting on February 17, the City of Fulton Republican Committee unanimously voted to endorse Republican Congressional candidate John Katco. Katco is running for the 24th Congressional District seat currently held by Democrat incumbant Dan Maffei.
