There will be a memorial benefit Saturday for Melody Crouch. It will take place at the Lakeview Lanes, 723 W. Broadway in Fulton from 1 to 6 p.m. Melody passed away on Dec. 26, 2013. She leaves behind a husband and five children and seven grandchildren.
John and I write a chocolate column, so when we are bouncing around the United States and the rest of the world we are always on the lookout for chocolate-based stories. We have enjoyed a $15 all-you-can-eat chocolate buffet in Hanoi, visited the Chocolate Museum in Bruges, a plantation in St. Lucia, and even a chocolate art studio in Prague. They were all great but sometimes we forget to check out chocolate places close to home. We recently discovered the “Man in the Moon Candies” chocolate store which is only a few miles from our home.
Booths and exhibits from building suppliers, home repair specialists and financial institutions will fill the Fulton War Memorial when the Fulton Area Home Show returns on April 12. A true sign of spring, the free home show is an opportunity for local homeowners and potential homebuyers to get a glimpse of the many services available for buying, selling, renovating, and sprucing up a home.
Friday’s dinner theatre performance includes dessert in ticket price. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for Saturday’s 8 p.m. and Sunday’s 3 p.m. dessert theatre performances will be available at the door.
Work will include a fully accessible Waterman Theatre with modern seating, lighting, sound and multimedia; a two-story music rehearsal hall doubling as a new venue for small performances; facade improvements that include two inviting new entrances at the building’s eastern corners, leading to a spacious and welcoming lobby; an expanded box office, new elevator, larger and more flexible Tyler Art Gallery; a digital media lab and a recording studio; and a host of environmentally friendly improvements to the building’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other systems, from lower level to roof.
I read about Major earlier this week, the poor little kitten who may lose his eye because of an infection. I didn’t know that could even happen. What caused it? Could it have been prevented? Will he be alright if he does lose his eye?
The Oswego boys’ hockey team advanced in post season play while the indoor track teams wound it down with some outstanding performances. Meanwhile, bowling, swimming, basketball and wrestling are ready to go in Section III competition while the girls’ jayvee basketball team finished the year 17-1.
Vincent D’Arrigo, son of Mark D’Arrigo and Cynthia D’Arrigo of Martville, has enrolled for Fall Semester 2014 admission at Rochester Institute of Technology. Vincent is in the Mechanical Engineering – BS program in RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering and will be a 2014 graduate of Cato-Meridian High School.

Marjorie A. Carter, 82, of Hannibal, passed away on Monday February 10, 2014, at Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton.
