RSVP opens new tax-assistance site in Central Square

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, has opened a tax aide site at Central Square Library. It will replace the former site, hosted by St. Bernadette’s in Constantia.  The new site will be staffed by RSVP volunteers John Lyons and Marie Crouse.

January 2014 Was Colder, Snowier But Drier Than Average

A squirrel finds a treat in the deep snow last monthJanuary 2014’s temperature was down. But, even though the snowfall was above average, the total precipitation was below average overall. The average temperature last month was 2.8 degrees below normal. Total snowfall was 2.8 inches above average, but it was very dry. So the overall precipitation was 1.03 inches below average.

In November 2013, the Oswego Sub Shop was contacted by the United States Secret Service and identified as a possible common point of purchase of a credit card breach (hack). It is also important to understand that this is NOT an “internal investigation,” as it has been speculated in social media outlets, BUT RATHER a much larger investigation and scope.
