Sandy Creek Central School District students might have had the day off from school on January 31 but the district’s entire educational community was hard at work for a daylong staff development opportunity.

Lanigan Elementary School Principal Jeff Hendrickson recognizes students periodically throughout the school year for being ‘on a roll.’ The ‘on a roll’ honorees are students who are working hard, making good choices and demonstrating a marked improvement in their education.

Do you need assistance preparing for the May 3 SAT? The Oswego County BOCES Distance Learning Program will host SAT Prep Classes, Wednesdays from March 12 to April 30. There will be no class on April 16 and 23. The classes will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

School Principal Jeff Hendrickson honored the students during a recent school-wide character assembly and described the virtue and the honorees as having “the ability to listen to someone else’s ideas and interact with someone with differing ideas in a fair, kind and respectful way.”

Teachers and administrators at Sandy Creek Elementary School recently organized a Common Core Parent Information Night where parents could learn more about the implementation of the Common Core Learning Standards into the elementary curriculum.

Seventeen students from John C. Birdlebough travelled back to their elementary school, Michael A. Maroun, recently to assist educators in teaching for the day. The Back to the Future (BTTF) program is held annually during regent’s week, allowing high school students to volunteer when they aren’t testing.

The Sandy Creek Central School District, will again be accepting nominees for the “Wall of Distinction.” “Graduates of distinction” are those who have achieved a high level of prominence in their personal and professional lives and who represent a positive role model to our youth.
