Constellation Energy Nuclear Group and Entergy to Replace Emergency Siren System
Constellation Energy Nuclear Group and Entergy Nuclear will be upgrading the public warning system that CENG operates and that serves Oswego County’s nuclear facilities. The new sirens will sound at a volume similar to the old ones and the new warning system is expected to be tested the same number of times per year as the old system. This project will involve a total investment of more than $1.5 million.
BOCES Career and Technical Education students shine
The top three students enrolled in each Career and Technical Education course were treated to a luncheon – one for students in the morning sessions and one for those in the afternoon courses — at the Mexico campus, where they had an opportunity to meet with one another while receiving words of encouragement from school counselors Scott Henry and Dave Eastman.
Fourth Grade Students at Lura Sharp Learn Sign Language
Tamara Seymour, teacher of the Deaf/HH at Oswego County BOCES, has volunteered her time to lead a six-week sign language class at Lura Sharp Elementary. The class is made up of mostly fourth graders, and is in its second year. The afterschool class teaches students American Sign Language, a visual, conceptual and complete language.
College field station adds new program for teens
SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station will offer a new education program for teens this summer. Conservation Field Studies will focus on environmental stewardship along with team building. The deadline to apply while being considered for a scholarship to the new program is April 1.
