The production will consist of two one-act plays: “Take Five” a comedy by Westley M. Pederson, to be directed by Donald Crowe and “Who Am I This Time?” by Christopher Sergel, based on the short story by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., to be directed by Valeri Roscoe Dedich. Auditions will be held on April 21 and 22 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 309 Buffalo St.
Recognizing Oswego County has selected the river’s end bookstore as the Community Champion for March. The theme for this month was Literacy Awareness.
The “Class of 2013” will be inducted into the Oswego High School Athletic Hall of Fame on April 26 at the Oswego County Club. The Oswego Buccaneer Boosters Club continues its support of the Hall of Fame as the sixth class will be introduced and inducted as members will have their plaques placed on the “Wall of Fame” in the Oswego High School lobby.
With the passage of the new State Budget comes a wide variety of changes aimed at creating new opportunities that will enable all New Yorkers to continue moving forward. Last week, I brought you news that my Young Farmers NY plan, aimed at encouraging more young people to enter careers in the agriculture industry, was included in the state’s new spending plan.
The 2014-15 New York state budget passed again on time for the fourth year in a row and we kept state operating spending at under 2% growth. The $137.9 billion spending plan contains some good news for New Yorkers but did fall short on other aspects.

Hard work, training and dedication have helped propel John C. Birdlebough High School senior Haylie Virginia to the next level, as she recently signed her letter of intent to attend Canisius College in the fall.
The Children’s Museum of Oswego will host the highly unique musical group, Bash the Trash Environmental Arts, on April 12 starting at 2 p.m. Bash the Trash builds, performs and educates with musical instruments made from reused and repurposed materials. The event will be held on the SUNY Oswego campus in the Hewitt Union Ballroom, with free, easily accessible parking.
