More than 100 participants are signed up for the second annual Plunge for Special Olympics New York and will take an icy dip into Ontario Lake on Saturday in support of local area Special Olympics athletes. Sergeant Jim Cunningham, officers Lysa Dolin, Bryan Thompson and Kevin Engle of the Oswego Police Department will lead the plunge carrying the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics “Flame of Hope.”
Recently, Mike Farden, CEO of the OHS Inc. class, and Emily Yamada, delivered 311 hats, mittens and scarves to the New American Center run by Interfaith Works, in Syracuse. These items go to many new and needy immigrants from Latin America that are new to snowy, Central New York.
Rotarian Charrise Kidd introduced Jo Piersma, a board member and one of the original founders of the Oswego County Humane Society, at a recent Noon Rotary Club meeting. Jo gave the Rotarians a little history on how the Humane Society came to be in Oswego County. The road she lives on used to be a popular dumping ground for unwanted pets.
Nine Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Junior/Senior High School students earned recognition for their outstanding excellence and commitment to academics when they were welcomed into the district’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.
Gordon “Butch” Dodge Jr., 65, of Oswego, formerly of Minetto, died Monday March 31, 2014, at Oswego Hospital due to heart failure.
Ronald M. March, 80, of Fulton, passed away Tuesday April 1, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.
On March 30, at approximately 7 p.m., the Fulton Police Department arrested a woman for Driving While Intoxicated while having three children under the age of 15 inside the vehicle.
