BOCES Should Increase, Not Decrease Automotive Program

It has come to my attention that Oswego County BOCES is scaling back on some of the automotive trades classes offered to adults. BOCES trains adults who have lost their jobs, giving them the opportunity through classroom education and “hands-on” knowledge/training to learn new skills in the auto repair business. Now that BOCES is undergoing a renovation project, only 5 of the current 8 garage bays will be available to youth and adult students.

Head Start Dedicates New Flag Pole at Discovery Day Care

Stiff winds and heavy rain could not dampen the spirits of those in attendance for the dedication of the new flagpole installed at Discovery Day Care in Phoenix. According to Head Start Family Advocate Liz Liberty, the flagpole dedication was the culmination of an idea first presented by the Head Start Male Involvement Group.

C&S Companies, located in Syracuse, is this year’s title sponsor of Thursday night’s musical entertainment. Additionally, Harborfest is happy to announce the band lineup for Thursday, July 24.

Mexico Middle School Symphonic Bands Takes Gold at Hershey Park Music in the Parks Festival

Recently, Mexico Middle School seventh and eighth grade symphonic bands swept the Hershey Park Music Festival by taking first place trophies in concert, jazz and marching bands, and the most coveted trophy, the “Espirt de Corps” award. “The Espirt de Corps trophy is awarded to the school that displays an exemplary attitude of positive support and outstanding personal behavior,” said band director Kevin Upcraft.
