Rosemary Nesbitt was all about children. She was a master storyteller, turned classic literature into plays for the stage and enchanted generations. Her legacy lives on in The Great Rope Play about a 12-year-old boy named Jonathan. Taking the lead as Jonathan is a young actor named Griffin Marriner who caps his brief stage experiences with a foray to Shakespeare.
Celebrate Oswego County agriculture and all the local food it provides us on October 3 at the Fifth Annual Oswego County Harvest Dinner. The dinner is fast becoming a “can’t miss” event that showcases the quality and diversity of agriculture in Oswego County by featuring locally grown and sourced food. The event is hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, with the support of local farmers and agriculture businesses, at The American Foundry.

At about 1:41 p.m. today July 15), the Oswego City Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team with assistance from the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and United Sates Border Patrol executed a search warrant at 956 Middle Road, Lot 6W, in the town of Scriba. The resident was charged with two drug-related felonies.
June 30, marked the beginning of Fresh Air summer experiences for thousands of inner-city children and their volunteer host families as The Fresh Air Fund kicked off its 138th summer of serving New York City children. Lori Greeney received the presidential gavel from Jerry Seguin at a recent Fulton Noon Rotary Club meeting. The Rotary year starts July 1 and closes on June 30 each year.
On July 20, the Oswego County Humane Society will celebrate its fifteenth anniversary at a clambake and birthday bash at Bayshore Grove, Bayshore Road, Oswego. The event will run from 1 to 5 pm and will feature all the clams you can eat, grilled foods, a buffet with vegetarian selections, free draft beer, cash bar, games, a $5,000 hole in one contest, a $500 lottery scratch-off board raffle, a silent auction and live entertainment.
The Oswego County Department of Social Services will host an informational meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 2, at the DSS office, 100 Spring St., Mexico, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. Oswego County also needs Hispanic foster parents.

Tonight’s (July 15) scheduled Oswego City School District Board of Education meeting has been rescheduled for July 22. That meeting will be held at the Education Center Curriculum Room at 120 E. First St.
