The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified home health care, long-term home health care, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
With the success of Oswego Speedway’s Jim Shampine Memorial broadcast on Speed Sport and MAVTV earlier this month, all partners have agreed to expand coverage of the ‘Steel Palace’ to include the August 2 running of the 28th annual $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified event presented by Davis Bros. The Novelis Family (Children’s) Park has long provided activities and entertainment for families during Harborfest. Family fun continues this year at the park located at Franklin Square (West) Park at West Fourth Street. The park is sponsored by Novelis and this year’s theme is “Treasure Island.”
More than 40 years ago Rosemary Nesbitt penned a play about a 12-year-old boy involved in the war of 1812, in which Oswego settlers played a major role. Five years to the day after her passing and 200 years after the event, Oswego will travel back in time to revisit not only a great victory in the War of 1812, but also celebrate the life of the one who told us the tale of the great rope

After another night of rain last weekend, Oswego Kartway returns to action Friday night with the annual King of the Kartway title event with beautiful trophies on the line from Platinum Promotional. All 13 of the Kartway’s divisions will be in action Friday, presented by RJ Kart Sales, battling for the right to wear the crown and be called King of the Kartway.
Several county residents earned honors last semester at the college.
A resolution urging the US Congress to reject the recommendation by the International Joint Commission to adopt Plan 2104 (regarding lake levels) was approved Thursday by the county legislature. Plan 2014, as proposed, doesn’t contain commitments to keep lake levels below 250 feet above sea level, according to county lawmakers. Opponents of the plan say that it will result in significant erosion and other damage.
