Kyle Waldeck and Alan Street are engineering students from SUNYIT in Utica who spent the summer working as interns in collaboration with communications engineers from consulting firm NYSTEC. The interns were given hands-on responsibilities to help develop a software bridge that enables clear voice communications between dissimilar radio systems.

Heroes Challenge added to 2014 Oswego Dragon Festival

The Oswego YMCA’s Oswego Dragon Festival Committee announced that it is adding a new component to the 2014 festival – The Heroes’ Challenge. Five of Oswego’s service organizations Oswego Police Department, Oswego Fire Department, the U.S Coast Guard, SUNY Oswego University Police and SAVAC will race one another for the title of Oswego Dragon Festival Heroes’ Challenge Champion.

Oswego Council OKs Use Of Public Space For Fundraisers

At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council approved ARISE’s request to use West Park for a “Light Up The Night” Run/Walk event to be held on September 13. Councilors also approved use Breitbeck Park for a fundraiser to benefit the American Red Cross to be held on September 7 as well as placement of signs advertising Trinity Catholic School’s annual craft show.

The Amyloidosis Support Group will meet on Sept. 6. The meeting is open to those living in the Upstate NY areas: Rochester, Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo and Utica. Make Your Own Zippered Pouches At Lakeside Artisans

A class to learn how to make cute and useful zippered pouches is being offered at Lakeside Artisans, 191 W. First St., on September 24 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The instructor, Kathy Fenlon will demonstrate how to make three different styles of a zippered pouch and three different easy ways to put in a zipper. There is a limit of four students per class.
