For several years the Youth Group at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church has attended Reach Work Camp during the summer. Reach, a nationwide youth mission, is now in its 22nd year and is designed to provide teens with an opportunity to help the elderly, handicapped and needy families who need repairs done on their homes.

Oswego Considering New Code For Vacant Buildings

The purpose of this new chapter of the code is to establish a program for identifying and registering vacant buildings, to determine the responsibilities of the owners of vacant buildings and structures and to facilitate the rehabilitation of the vacant properties, explained Connie Cosemento, Quality of Life Committee chairperson. Currently, the only part of the city code dealing with such properties states that a vacant property must be sealed, she pointed out.

Mayor Gillen Announces Appointment Of New Plumbing Inspector

Mayor Tom Gillen is pleased to announce the appointment of Ronald G. Tesoriero Jr. as the new Plumbing Inspector for the city of Oswego. The Common Council passed Resolution No. 337c on July 28 officially appointing Tesoriero as the city’s Plumbing Inspector, effective August 11, 2014. He replaces Robert T. (Chow) Culeton, who recently resigned from the position, which he held since 2001.
