The nationally-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team tied 4-4 in overtime for the second straight day, this time against Utica College in The Toyota Frozen Dome Classic on Saturday afternoon at Syracuse University’s Carrier Dome. Oswego and Utica brought 7,047 spectators into the Dome, setting a new NCAA Division III attendance mark for a men’s ice hockey contest.
Oswego County Workforce New York, Oswego Health, The Manor at Seneca Hill, and the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation (CiTi, formerly Oswego County BOCES) are working together to offer a new opportunity in the healthcare field. Representatives recently met with more than a dozen job seekers to discuss a new specialized training program being offered for certified nursing assistants.
The Oswego State women’s hockey team shutout the Potsdam Bears for the second straight day in a 3-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Marano Campus Center Arena during the program’s alumni weekend. With the win, Oswego is now 4-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 in ECAC West action.
Oswego Speedway Novelis Supermodified car builder Joe Hawksby Jr. of Minetto was recently featured in the car builder’s edition of New Jersey based racing trade, Area Auto Racing News. Hawksby Jr., a former Novelis Supermodified driver and the leading Supermodified manufacturer and fabricator at Oswego since 2005, is the son of longtime Supermodified driver Joe Hawksby Sr.
Joseph Wicks was a recent guest at Oswego Rotary. He discussed efforts by the Bureau of Tobacco Control to encourage private business owners to draft policy regarding smoking on or near their business.
The event asked the students in the school to wear their favorite hooded sweatshirt for the day and make a donation to the Oswego County Humane Society. The donations will help the OCHS “end homelessness one dog at a time.”
The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team played to a 4-4 overtime tie with visiting Brockport on Friday night at the Marano Campus Center Arena. With the tie, the nationally-ranked Lakers move to 5-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in SUNYAC action.
