The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team extended its win streak to five games with a 3-2 victory at Neumann University on Saturday afternoon. With the triumph, the Lakers go to 7-2-0 overall and 5-1-0 in ECAC West action while the Knights fall to 1-9-1, 1-7-0.
The Oswego State women’s basketball lost an 86-84 contest against conference-foe Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon at Max Ziel Gymnasium. With the loss, the Lakers move to 2-4 overall and 1-1 after the opening SUNYAC weekend while Buffalo State improved to 3-3, 1-1.

Students in the SUNY Oswego chapter of the education honor society Kappa Delta Pi held a book fair during the first week of December in the Marano Campus Center. Funds raised go to support literacy projects in the community and help purchase books for local children who are most in need.
Compass Credit Union in Oswego recently donated $500 to the Home and School Association at Kingsford Park Elementary School in Oswego. It will help pay for winter clothes and other student needs.
The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on December 21. Serving will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be ham, oven fried potatoes, vegetable, bread and dessert.
ARISE is pleased to announce a new Diabetes Self-Management Program for people with disabilities who are on Medicaid. The six-week workshop is free and will take place once a week starting on January 15.
The Oswego High School freshman class (class of 2018) will hold a fundraiser in conjunction with Xpress Auto Care on Route 104 West in Oswego on Dec. 9 and 10. A percentage of sales from oil changes that day will be donated to the freshman class.
The school met all six standards for both initial and advanced teacher preparation at undergraduate and graduate levels. Moreover, the team of reviewers indicated that Oswego excelled in and performed beyond expectations in all of the standards, including the self-identified area of excellence on field experience and clinical practice.
