As announced in the November/December 2014 issue of Expansion Solutions Magazine, Operation Oswego County, Oswego County’s designated economic development organization, has been selected by the editors as one of the 2014 “Top Five” Metal Fabrication Award Winners. “The Top Five Awards of Excellence recognize economic development organizations that have shown exceptional progress in the area of development.

Last weekend the Oswego State men’s and women’s ice hockey teams hosted its annual Holiday Skate to help benefit SEFA/United Way at the Marano Campus Center Arena. Both squads helped during two sessions, with one running from 1-2 p.m. and the other going from 3-4 p.m.

The Silver Key Awards are presented to county Farm Bureaus that have exhibited excellence in a variety of categories relating to effectiveness in policy implementation, promoting agriculture among the public and in classrooms, leadership development and membership building.

The Phoenix Community Band recently performed its annual Christmas concert before a packed crowd at John C. Birdlebough High School. Led by Director David Frateschi, a Phoenix Central School District music teacher, the band performed several festive songs to the pleasure of many Phoenix community members.

Members of the Oswego High School Interact Club recently assisted the Sunrise Rotary Club with its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser held at The Oswego Tea Company. Students, working with Rotary members, took part in all aspects of the event, including ticket sales, preparation, cooking, serving and cleanup.
