Help! I can tell that spring is right around the corner because my dog, Rudy, came home smelling of skunk. I wasn’t expecting that so soon and didn’t have any of the commercial stuff available so I tried the tomato juice trick that I had heard about and then he just smelled like skunk mixed with tomato juice.
The Oswego County Division of Mental Hygiene is looking for input from the community on the transportation needs of residents seeking mental health services in the county. The Division of Mental Hygiene would like to develop a transportation option for individuals with mental health disorders and transportation challenges, and is conducting a survey to gather information.
The Buffalo office of the National Weather Service will conduct a SKYWARN spotter training seminar at the Oswego County Emergency Management Office, 200 N. Second St., Fulton, at 7 p.m. March 18. The training session is sponsored by the Oswego County Emergency Management Office and will last about two hours.
The session is open to the public. There is no cost for the training.
A baby girl born at Oswego Hospital during National Girl Scout Week along with her mother will be showered with gifts donated by the 11 troops that make up the Oswego service unit. Troop representatives delivered a large basket filled with baby supplies as part of their celebration of Girl Scout Week, which begins March 8 and ends March 14.
The Oswego High School TV Club recently hosted its inaugural “Frozen Film Festival.” Entrants had one week to create a video based on certain requirements, including props such as hot chocolate and a tennis racquet.
The Oswego State men’s lacrosse team remained perfect on its first weekend of the season with a 6-5 victory over host United State Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday afternoon at Brooks Stadium. With the win, the Lakers go to 2-0 on the season while the Mariners fall to 1-1.
Recently, Mexico Wish Kid Alyssa David got the surprise of a lifetime as she celebrated her 14th birthday. Make-A-Wish Central New York presented her with a personalized Arctic Cat all-terrain vehicle. Alyssa has a life-threatening gastrointestinal disorder and her one true wish was for an ATV to spend more time outdoors with family and friends.
Matt Herron, whose photographs of the Civil Rights Movement in the mid-1960s have appeared in publications around the globe, will give a free artist’s talk at 7 p.m. March 24, in SUNY Oswego’s Marano Campus Center auditorium, as part of the college’s semester-long exploration of race and identity titled “Race. Place. Being.” As a young man, Herron volunteered to help document black Americans’ struggle for voting and other rights on behalf of the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee.
Oswego County Farm Bureau member Eric Behling took time away from his farm recently to visit with lawmakers in Albany to push for policy initiatives that will create a stronger economic climate for every farmer in the state.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
