Phoenix Central School District To Host Oswego County Olympiad Invitational

After students in the Phoenix Central School District attended last year’s Special Olympics in Cicero, PCSD personnel were so inspired that they wanted to start their own event for Oswego County students. That idea, first pitched to administrators by physical education teacher Angie Neiss, quickly blossomed and will become a reality when Phoenix hosts the Oswego County Olympiad Invitational on May 14.

Audiences will hear from top experts on the War of 1812 during the fifth annual Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium scheduled for April 17, 18 and 19 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, 26 E. What is troubling, however, is that last month, upon its implementation, reports circulated that thousands of state agency emails were deleted. With the new system’s implementation, a 90-day automatic deletion policy has also be instituted.

The “R-word” is the word “retard(ed)” which has found a place in common language and seems to be accepted by most, despite the fact that its use, casual or otherwise, is hurtful to millions of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities along with those that love them. Shop Local And Cut Property Taxes At Your Local DMV

Oswego County Clerk Michael Backus encourages local residents to use one of the three local (DMV offices for their motor vehicle transactions. This includes registration renewals, such as those for motorcycles which expire every year on April 30. “When people mail their DMV renewals to a local office, Oswego County retains a portion of the fees and that goes directly toward off-setting local property taxes,” Backus said.
