Oswego County AmeriCorps is still accepting applications for 900-hour positions in its new Economic Development Corps. The organization offers members an opportunity to gain valuable career skills while receiving a modest living allowance and earning an education award to help pay for college or grad school, or pay back qualified student loans.
On February 26 investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, assisted by officers of the Oswego City Police Department, stopped a Chevrolet Cobalt on State Route 481 north of County Route 57 in the city of Oswego. The ensuing investigation resulted in search warrants being issued and 8.2 grams of heroin were recovered from the person of Eugene J. Gibbs, 23, of 745 South St., Apartment #1, Utica, according to police.
The Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network recently launched an ad campaign called Pass Life On. There are a series of videos which talk about the importance of organ donation titled “The Greatest Person Never Known” which feature a grateful organ recipient. The ad campaign is designed to help improve the state’s organ donation registration rates, which continue to be much lower than other states.
A long way from home town of Salina, Kansas, Mille Dillmount (Alexia Abelgore) sets out for an adventure in New York City. Her story is told in the energetic Broadway musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, which plays this weekend (March 5-7) in Fulton’s G. Ray Bodley High School Auditorium.
CNY Arts Center is excited to announce a return of John, His Story, the popular ensemble play starring veteran actors Kristin Cook, Beth DeRousie, Robert Fontana and welcoming Brian Pringle to the cast. The single performance will be featured as the next Dessert Theatre, in a new series of evening entertainment with luscious desserts and a show at CNY Arts Center.
