Elementary school students recently participated in the Red Cross’ Pillowcase Project, a preparedness education program that teaches students about personal and family preparedness, local hazards and coping skills.
A recent broomball competition featuring students and staff from the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District help raise $350 for the district’s BackPack Program, which is designed to help meet the needs of hungry children.
The Oswego School Board held a roundtable discussion Thursday regarding the budget process. While not a popular idea, board members admit, some staff reductions may be necessary if other options cannot be found. The Oswego City School District has until April 24 to formulize the budget as it needs to be approved by that date in order to follow the requirements for the May 19 vote. “We have some time. But there’s a lot of work ahead of us,” Superintendent Ben Halsey said. “We’ve got some work to do.”

Daniel J. Mulcahey, 87, of Oswego, passed away Thursday morning April 9, 2015, at Morningstar Care Center.
On January 7, State Police in Fulton arrested Robert A. Boyd, 29, at the Granby Wal-Mart, where Boyd was employed as a cashier. Boyd was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st degree for possessing counterfeit $100 bills. The investigation determined that Boyd was working together with the individual pictured in the attached surveillance photos to pass counterfeit money.
The Oswego County Health Department today (April 9) announced changes to the 2015 rabies clinic schedule. The clinic scheduled for July 8 at the Parish Highway Garage has been re-located to the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department on State Route 13 on July 8. The clinic scheduled for Sept. 9 will be held at the Granby Town Highway Garage, 820 County Route 8.
On April 25, the Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir, and State Singers, directed by Dr. Mihoko Tsutsumi, will be holding a free concert that is open to the public. Our Spring Concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Sheldon Hall Ballroom on the SUNY Oswego Campus. This concert is sure to impress with various styles of music from Renaissance Polyphony to musical numbers.
Members of the G. Ray Bodley High School Concert and Jazz Band became stars of their own Disney show on March 28 and 29 when they entertained resort guests at Waterside Stage at Downtown Disney and Melody Gardens Theatre at the Epcot Park. The group traveled from Fulton to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to take part in the Disney Performing Arts Program.
