Hundreds of people, young and old, dedicated part of their holiday weekend to supporting a youngster most have never actually met. Still, they all consider Julian Ross a part of their family. Julian was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma on August 4, 2011. He was just 6 years old. In early March, 9-year-old Julian was put on Hospice care.
Spot the Pedestrian Safety Dog will be on hand during the lunch hour rush in downtown Oswego from April 6 – 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. He will help remind motorists to observe pedestrian safety laws and no right on red signs and walkers to use the pedestrian signals properly as well as cross properly at the crosswalks.

On April 26, Paws Across Oswego County will be holding its 10th annual open house at Paws & Effect Inc in Oswego. PAOC will also be celebrating its 15th year as a non-profit organization. As in the past, its event will bring together local animal rescue organizations to help spread awareness about adoption and rescue.
Margaret “Peg” Saternow, 89 of Saratoga Springs, NY, and a longtime resident of Oswego, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday March 31, 2015, in Florida.

The annual Spring Oswego Community Youth Orchestra Concert will be held on April 19 in the Sheldon Hall Ballroom of SUNY Oswego at 7 p.m. OCYO is comprised of local elite student musicians grades 7-12. Tickets are $5, available at Midstate Music and SUNY Oswego Sheldon Hall Room 219 Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – noon and 1 – 4 p.m.
John and I have been to Myanmar many times but the most amazing site in a country of many amazing sites is the Golden Rock. On our recent trip, we stayed at the Park Royal Hotel in Yangon. The hotel is wonderful with great service, a bountiful multi-ethnic breakfast, and a wonderful staff. The Golden Rock is amazing and defies the laws of nature as it balances precariously on a table rock and has for more than two thousand years.
Dr. Brian Johnson, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and an addiction specialist at SUNY Upstate Medical University, will discuss heroin and opiate addictions in a 10 a.m. talk April 24, in SUNY Oswego’s Sheldon Hall ballroom. Johnson will present the latest research on opiate addiction and recovery. There is no cost to attend.
