The following SUNY Polytechnic Institute students have been named to the President’s Excellence List for the Spring 2015 semester. A semester grade point average of 3.80 or above qualifies full-time matriculated students for inclusion on the President’s Excellence List.
David J. Backus, 74, of Oneida River Road, Pennellville, NY, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday May 19, 2015.
The Oswego County Health Department will conduct an emergency preparedness exercise on May 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Oswego County Health Department at 70 Bunner St. The purpose of the exercise is to practice the county’s ability to dispense lifesaving medication in the event of a public health emergency.
On Wednesday at approximately 5:30 a.m. the Oswego County Drug Task Force with the assistance of the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team and Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team executed a Methamphetamine related search warrant in Parish. As a result of the investigation, materials and ingredients used to manufacture methamphetamine and approximately 3 ounces of methamphetamine oil were seized, police said.
“Greg has earned our support through his advocacy work to protect our children,” said Michael C. Backus, Chair of the OCRC. “That coupled with his steadfast desire to prosecute those who would abuse taxpayer funds through welfare fraud makes me proud to have him as the Republican candidate for DA.”
A Clean Sweep took place recently. It had been delayed slightly due to previous high water, current and weather, but was well worth the wait. A majority of the litter picked up was plastic bottles and beverage cans.
Joey Occhino, owner of Vona’s Restaurant in Oswego, will be providing the next Salvation Army Guest Chef Dinner on June 2, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Worship and Service Center, 73 W. Second St.
Mexican delicacies and margaritas made for an exciting lunch outing for residents from Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego. The lunch outing to Azteca Mexican Grill in Oswego was one of several Mexican themed events and activities offered the residents.
