The SUNY Oswego Alumni Association honored a public relations major from Buffalo with the 2015 Outstanding Senior Award at the Commencement Eve Dinner on May 16. Bridget Jackson of the class of 2015 was selected based on her academic achievements, campus involvement and service to her community.
On June 20, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Faith United Church, located next to the middle school at 12 Mark Fitzgibbons Drive, will host its annual plant and yard sale. Plants will be sold on the church lawn.
Fairgrieve Elementary School recently hosted its second annual College and Career Day, providing fifth and sixth grade students with the opportunity to discuss their futures with professionals from a wide variety of fields. Speakers from 13 different career fields held presentations to describe a day in the life of their profession, and answer any questions students may have had regarding their career.
“We want people to enjoy the season and maximize the health benefits of swimming by promoting safe practices,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “We each play a role in preventing accidents such as drowning, injuries from improper handling of pool chemicals, and illnesses caused by germs in the places we swim.”
Kayleigh Moyer of Pennellville qualified for the Spring 2105 Dean’s List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

History buffs gathered in the Port City from across the U.S. and Canada to hear retrospectives at the fifth annual Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium. From April 17 to 19, attendees gained fresh insights about this campaign from a panel of esteemed historians at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, 26 E. First St., Oswego.

Oswego Speedway and AsphaltVision announced its 2015 online streaming schedule on Tuesday, which will begin with this weekend’s Port City 160 ‘Super Spectacle’ featuring the ISMA Supermodifieds and Oswego’s Novelis Supermodifieds on the same track, same night for the first time in more than 10 years.
