The Oswego County Historical Society, along with the Friends of Riverside Cemetery, will host a guided cemetery tour of the historic Riverside Cemetery at 4024 County Route 57, Oswego, on June l4 at 1:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The Oswego County Democratic Committee met recently in Fulton and has agreed to endorse a fine slate of candidates in this year’s election.
Graveside services for Ruth Welch Palmer, who passed away on March 8, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at Jacksonville Cemetery.
The Oswego Library will be temporarily closing access to the front entrance located on East Second Street. Patrons should enter the library using the East Oneida Street entrance going down the stairway next to the lawyer’s office and walking across the grass.
Area students entering the eighth or ninth grade in the fall can learn more about healthcare careers this July at Oswego Hospital’s MASH Camp. This year’s MASH Camp (Medical Academy of Science and Health) at Oswego Hospital will be held July 29 and 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
The Community Garden Project offers Fulton residents the opportunity to plant their own vegetables, herbs or flowers. “Anyone interested in reserving a bed for the community garden can call 598-4712. We will take your information over the phone and you will be contacted with planting dates and informational meetings,” said Amy Roland, director of Nutrition Services for Oswego County Opportunities.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, The Friends of History (aka Pratt House) represented by Paula Rohn, president; Sarah Conley, vice president; and Sue Lane, house manager, were introduced by president-elect Betty Maute. Sue talked about the history of the home, built in 1851.
Recently, students from SUNY Oswego’s WTOP10 visited Oswego High School and WBUC to conduct two mini workshops. The goal of the visit was to assist local high school students in their TV production classes and broadcasts, according to Jamie Sykut, Oswego High School technology teacher.
The United Baptist Church of Scriba, 5111 State Route 104E, will have a coffeehouse on June 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. Free refreshments will be provided during intermission.
Shannon Pasco of Oswego has received a BS degree from Lasell College during commencement exercises recently. Pasco majored in Honors Program.
