The traditional and famous Oswego Harborfest Children’s Parade is scheduled to begin on July 24 at 1:30 p.m. from Breitbeck Park and it will be composed of many local organizations as well as hundreds of children and a variety of surprises.
As summer begins, State Senator Patty Ritchie is calling on New York State to reopen the swimming beach at Oswego County’s Selkirk Shores State Park. Due to budget cuts in 2010, before Senator Ritchie took office, the park’s swimming beach was closed, forcing visitors to travel 10 miles to Sandy Island, with no pedestrian trail linking the two parks.
To achieve Dean’s List status, a student must earn a 3.25 GPA or higher based on a 4.0 grading scale.
The Oswego County Legislature has adopted summer hours for departments in the Legislative Office Building at 46 E. Bridge St., Oswego. Beginning June 29 and ending Aug. 28, offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Leading the cast of the upcoming Oswego Players’ production of “Guys and Dolls” to be staged this July in the Oswego Civic Arts Center will be Rita Warlock, who plays Adelaide. She joins a cast of talented actors, singers and dancers in the Franck Loesser, Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows musical based on characters by Damon Runyons.
While change can be confusing, change is also good when it enriches programming at CNY Arts Center. As a multi-arts center serving the region, something is happening all the time at CNY Arts Center and these changes are worth noting.
The summer schedule at Oswego Speedway officially kicks into high gear on July 4 with the Speedway’s annual ‘Christmas in July’ celebration, to go along with extra distance Grand Prix features for the Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank SBS. Every fan that brings a new and unwrapped toy to the Speedway next Saturday will receive a free hot dog combo meal.
Allstate Insurance financial specialist, Les Kelsey, whose office is located at 27 Gregory St., has made a donation in support of the Pelizaeus-Merzbacher Disease Foundation. PMD is a neurological disease in which coordination, motor abilities, and intellectual function are delayed to variable extents.
The New York State Art Teachers Association recently held its Student Art Exhibit in Albany. Oswego City School and Baldwinsville Central School districts participated. Oswego City School District chose the works of six artists.
