The average temperature was 45.3 degrees. That is just 0.4-degree above average. The precipitation was down. Spring came in at 7.66 inches. That’s 2.19 inches below average. The area has been running a deficit (this year), but June will likely do a lot to close the gap.
Oswego County Federal Credit Union, in cooperation with the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, will again be sponsoring free open air Movies in the Park at 7 p.m. in East Park, said Bill Carhart, OCFCU CEO.
Second graders paraded around the auditorium with American flags as part of an annual tribute to Old Glory. Younger students sat in the audience and were captivated by the songs, stories and facts that the second graders presented.
Students in Oswego High School’s Modern Novels class, recently welcomed Oswego Police Officer Jim LaDue and his canine partner, Crixius. This unique opportunity included time for students to interact with Crixius, view a training video, ask multiple questions and see a demonstration of Officer LaDue and Crixius in action.
The Sandy Creek Central School District recently honored its student-athletes with dozens of individual and team awards at a recognition event in the school auditorium. Athletic coordinator Mike Stevens presented awards honoring scholar athletes, those who exhibited sportsmanship, league and section winners and multi-sport athletes.
Dean’s List designation is reserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade-point average in a semester with a full-time course load.
Domino’s stores, located at 316 W. Second St. in Fulton and 60 SW Ninth St. in Oswego, were recently recognized for their outstanding operation, perfect pizza making and quality of customer service as part of Domino’s Operations Evaluations Report program.
SUNY Oswego’s global environmental competition for high school students interested in science, art, creative writing, music, design and business is under way this week. It attracted more than 700 finalists and their mentors representing 401 projects from 65 countries and 33 states this year.
Harborfest will start early on Friday July 26 for families with children who have disabilities. Families are welcome to participate in the festival from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. to enjoy music, food from participating vendors, and children’s activities. A shuttle will be provided to transport children and families to the start of the Children’s Parade following the event at 1 p.m.
Since 1971, Oswego Speedway’s Twin Supermodified events have been known to produce first time feature winners at the ‘Steel Palace.’ Fred Graves, Gary Allbritain, Mike McLaughlin, Dean Hoag, Howard Page, Greg Furlong, Otto Sitterly, Jeff Holbrook, Gary Morton, Jerry Curran, and Pat Lavery have all won their first, and in some cases only, Supermodified feature in a Twin Supermodified main.
