While the parking garage at the Midtown Plaza in Oswego is closed for construction, Oswego County Opportunities would like to remind community members that it is business as usual at the agency’s office in the lower level of the plaza. Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., OCO’s Midtown office hosts a number of the agency’s human services programs.

Oswego Speedway’s Novelis Supermodifieds will return to the ‘Steel Palace’ this weekend for the always exciting Supermodified Twin 35s presented by Burke’s Do-It-Best Home Centers and A&P Auto Parts along with the first driver autograph session of the season on June 20.
Oswego High School Students Christopher VanGorder, Taylor Hamer, Courtney Osmun and Ryan Smith, along with their instructor Robert Dumas, were honored recently by the Oswego City School District Board of Education for their selection and participation in the National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Honors Chorus.
DeSanto was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society, and also received the George F. Gill Prize in Pediatrics.
A total of $345,000 had been budgeted and passed for Fire Department overtime. That was divided into $145,000 for department overtime; $100,000 for codes and the remaining $100,000 was moved to an overtime contingency account. The chief requested the contingency funds be returned to his department’s budget. The full council will vote on it at its next meeting.

An elderly female suffered serious injuries today (June 15), as a result of a motor vehicle collision on Murray Street. The single-car accident occurred around 3:15 p.m., in front of 27 Murray St., on the west side of Oswego. Oswego Fire Department officials said that the vehicle was traveling south, left the road and struck a tree.
