Hard work in the classroom paid dividends for dozens of Hannibal High School students who were recognized during a year-end awards ceremony. The Lockwood Auditorium was bustling with excitement as teachers, faculty, community members and families congratulated students on their accomplishments.
The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named 907 students to the President’s List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Spring 2015 semester.
Ellen Clark was a recent guest of Danielle Hayden at an Oswego Rotary club meeting. Clark is a partner in Lighthouse Coworks, a new form of business services called coworking.
The Oswego High School Music Department presented the 2015 Seniors Concert recently at the Ralph M. Faust Theater in Oswego, as a tribute to its graduating seniors. The Oswego High School Concert Orchestra and the Symphonic Orchestra, under the direction of Cheryl Rogers, delighted the crowd with a variety of songs.
Continuing its tradition of offering free arts demonstrations on Thursdays during the farmers’ market, Lakeside Artisans, 191 W. First St., will sponsor demos Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. in Lakeside Artisans’ shop.
Kara Weiss was honored as a recipient of the Elks National Foundation 2015 Legacy award. Kara will receive $ 1,000 for four years upon completion of volunteer requirements.
Minetto Elementary School’s Inclusion Bulletin Board was created by faculty members, Cindi Hermann and Amy Sullivan to celebrate the school’s 25th year of inclusion. The bulletin board reads, “We are each beautiful and unique, but together we are a masterpiece!”
The Hannibal Central School District will host William Silky of Castallo & Silky, Superintendent Search Consultants, on June 17 at 7 p.m. in the DMK Middle School cafeteria. Silky will introduce himself and discuss the search process for a new superintendent.
The Oswego Middle School Hands on History Club traveled to Gettysburg, Pa., recently to learn about the Civil War and the Battle of Gettysburg firsthand. During the trip, students participated in activities led by the National Parks Service, spent time at the visitor center and toured the various sites of the battlefield led by a licensed guide.
