A popular local restaurant is teaming up with an Oswego family in its effort to support Type 1 diabetes research. Canale’s Restaurant will join forces with Mike and Sally McCrobie to host a JDRF benefit event Oct. 6.

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Doug Stevens introduced Pam Weaver, Deputy Executive Director for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The center was started in 1986 because of a well-publicized kidnapping and murder.
Director of Oswego County Opportunities’ Developmentally Disabled Services Michelle Canfield presented Joseph Garrett with an Outstanding Employee Award and a Longevity Award for 5 years of service to OCO and its consumers.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Thanks to West Monroe Eagle Scout Eric Hartmann, the fishing pond at the Salmon River Visitors Center and International Sport Fishing Museum has a new raft. The museum has developed a ½-acre fishing pond on the museum grounds on state Route 13, but needed a structure in the pond for the fish to hide under.
My big happy black lab, Rufus, loves to play tug of war with me. He has a lot of energy and it’s his favorite game. But the other day my next door neighbor was watching us play out in the back yard and he asked me later whether I was worried that I might be encouraging Rufus to be too aggressive toward me and other people.
Campers have already started setting up at the Fulton Speedway and racers are putting finishing touches on their cars in preparation for one of the most prestigious racing event’s in the Northeast. This Friday and Saturday the 30th annual Sunoco Fulton Ethanol Facility Outlaw 200 Weekend presented by SUNY Canton is ready to hit the ‘Highbanks.’
