More than 50 budding scientists in kindergarten through fourth grades participated in the after-school event. Projects highlighted a broad range of topics, from astronomy to biology, and students were on hand to answer questions about their research.

The A-Team from Sandy Creek along with their alliance, Freezing Code from Oswego, finished in first place at the Northern New York VEX Skyrise State Robotics Championship, advancing them to the 2016 VEX Worlds on April 20-23, in Louisville, Kentucky.

During the third annual Healthy Family Night at Fairley Elementary School on March 14, physical education teacher Lynn Halliwell helped unveil a new hooping exercise for students in kindergarten through fourth grade.

Building upon nearly 15 years of administrative experience in the Phoenix Central School District, longtime administrator and former Central Square teacher Christopher Byrne has been named the district’s next superintendent. In a unanimous vote March 14, the PCSD Board of Education approved Byrne as the successor to Judy Belfield, who will retire in June.
