College Honor Ceremony Held

Jennifer Shropshire, a 1986 alumna of SUNY Oswego, addressed SUNY Oswego’s Honors Convocation on April 15, where more than 100 students were recognized for their academic achievements and leadership. “Walk about the world with open hearts and open minds. Listen. Honor the value of every person you encounter,” she advised the students.

Board Approves Budget, Speakers Oppose Sports Cuts

The Oswego School Board Tuesday night approved the $79,510,611 budget proposal for the 2016-17 school year. The budget also contains many reductions; several support staff and teaching positions are on the block as well as a big chunk of the district’s athletic programs. Several speakers warned the board of the negative impact cutting sports would have on the students and community as well.
