Oswego Speedway Hall of Famer Kenny Andrews, the first Canadian track champion and International Classic winner at the Speedway, passed away on Friday (April 8) at the age of 87. A real estate broker by day in Burlington, Ontario, Andrews was a fierce Supermodified competitor at Oswego on the weekends.
“As we mark our first 100 days together in office, we can all look back and be extremely proud of what we have already accomplished,” Mayor Barlow told the packed Council Chambers. “For the first time in a long time, our residents are excited about our community. They are encouraged by their local government.”
A lifetime Oswego resident, Tricia Buck was given the opportunity to take over ownership for a downtown store she worked at part-time. Leaving her 19 year career, Buck purchased what is now A Touch of Grace Inspirational and Everyday Gifts in August 2015 and never looked back. “I just love being able to promote positivity,” Buck said of owning her local business. “This is a store that is able to bring in anyone who has never experienced anything Christian without being pushy. Whether you’re looking for something to fulfill a religious need or not, I love being able to supply people with the things they need and want.”
Joseph “Ted” Swiech, 64, a resident of Oswego, passed away on Sunday April 10, 2016, at Oswego Hospital.

On April 8 State Police responded to Discount Liquors in Granby for a report of a larceny that occurred the previous evening. State Police viewed security footage showing a female suspect entering the store, concealing a bottle of cognac in a jacket and exiting the store without rendering payment.
Kathy’s Cakes and Specialty Treats in Fulton will sweeten St. Luke’s “Bundle of Bucks” Charity Raffle on May 7. That’s because owner Kathy Hotaling donated a gift certificate to her shop which is among the many prizes to be awarded during the charity raffle party coming up in a few weeks.
