Oswego Speedway’s storied history has long included great Canadian drivers and car owners over the years, and among that list of accomplished veterans are Dave McKnight and Gary Morton, who are working on a focused effort to return competitively to Oswego part-time in non-wing action with their sights set on the 60th running of the Budweiser International Classic 200 on September 4.
Steve Canale, Alison Scanlon and their staff of the Press Box, will be providing the next Guest Chef Dinner for the Oswego County Salvation Army on April 19, with service starting at 4:30 p.m., for dining in or taking out, at the Center for Worship and Service, 73 W. Second St.
The Manor at Seneca Hill will host a free public reception for an exhibition of SUNY Oswego’s “Recollection: A Memory Loss Awareness Project” from 3 to 4 p.m. April 13.
More than 125 volunteers will “Brave the Shave” this Sunday as they raise money to beat childhood cancers at this year’s 10th annual S. Baldrick’s Day in Oswego County. With more than $30,000 showing on this year’s website, the ten-year total of donations raised at Oswego events is more than $510,000.
U.S. Congressman, John Katko visited Fulton recently to address a local and nationwide epidemic, the use and abuse of heroin, opioids and synthetic drugs. Katko, representing the 24th Congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives was joined by a panel of local leaders, experts, and personal victims to the effects of addiction.
The White Sabers Drum and Bugle Corps will perform in Oswego April 9. The event is set for 7 p.m. in the Oswego High School cafeteria.
At about 10:05 a.m. today State Police stopped a vehicle on State Route 690 in VanBuren for a traffic violation. The operator wasn’t able to provide identification and gave a name and date of birth. Investigation at the scene revealed he had provided a false name and date of birth, and he was positively identified as Thomas Simmons, of Hannibal, police said. Further investigation revealed he was also allegedly in possession of heroin.
