Students, Parents, Community Members Honored at CiTi Migrant Program Dinner
Hard work has paid off for several Migrant Education Tutorial & Support Services Program participants. Seven students from throughout Oswego, Wayne and Lewis counties overcame lingual and academic challenges to graduate high school in the coming weeks.
Volney Students, Staff Celebrate Flag Day
Volney students celebrated Flag Day by honoring former Fulton City School District student and U.S. Army Spc. Matt Digby during a special ceremony on June 14. Members of the student body and staff stood alongside guests around the school’s flag pole as Principal Todd Terpening offered opening remarks and Father Moritz Fuchs gave an invocation.
Without Help From NYS, Exelon Says It’ll Close NiMi Point 1
In a recent filing with the NYS Public Service Commission, Exelon said it would close Nine Mile Point 1 if it doesn’t get a guarantee from the state for a financial lifeline by September. New York’s proposed Clean Energy Standard includes a mechanism to compensate nuclear plants through zero emissions credits. However, the company said it couldn’t count on a CES that is “merely speculative.”
Road Closures Announced For Saturday’s Tri-Oswego
In order to ensure the safety of athletes who will be participating in the Tri-Oswego sporting events June 18, roads along the course will be closed. Organizers ask that residents in the areas where roads are closed to traffic refrain from backing/pulling out of driveways between 8 – 11:30 a.m. and please keep family pets on leashes for the safety of the participants.
‘Know Your Medications’ Co-Hosted by Office for the Aging and Bishop’s Commons
Pharmacist Jamie Branshaw, RPh, from Wayne Drugs in Oswego will offer a presentation entitled; “Know Your Medications,” co-sponsored by the Oswego County Office for the Aging and Bishop’s Commons on July 12 beginning at 7 p.m.
SUNY Canton’s Deans Recognize Honor Students
More than 500 students earned Dean’s List honors for the spring 2016 semester at SUNY Canton. The Dean’s List recognizes full-time students who earned least a 3.25 on a 4.0 academic scale.

Shineman Foundation Supports Novelis Children’s Park
The children attending the 29th annual Oswego Harborfest will benefit from the generous grant from the Shineman Foundation as it supports the Novelis Children’s Park STEM program. The Children’s Park will be open Friday-Sunday during Harborfest.
