Rotary Presents Scholarships
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, educational scholarships were presented to two students from G.R. Bodley High School and one student from Hannibal High School.
Friends of Great Bear is pleased to announce the completion of a natural stone staircase near the historic Oswego Canal guard lock at Great Bear Springs Recreation Area. The stone steps replace a steep eroded hillside trail connection. A grant was awarded from the Oswego County Community Foundation to help fund the construction of the stairs.
The Fulton City School District Board of Education heard of the benefits and possibility of implementing a NYS school-based health clinic in one of the district’s elementary schools. Though still in it’s infancy stages, the CNY Leadership Development Program, made up of Jon Fasulo, Angela Ferlito, Matt Kimpland, Ami LaDue, Nate Murray, Dan Stadtmiller and Kelly Stadtmiller have thoroughly examined the needs and desires for a school-based health clinic within the district. “This is something we would really like to do,” said executive director of instruction and assessment, Betsy Conners.
For the 29th consecutive year, Oswego Harborfest will bring thousands of festival goers to the city of Oswego from July 28 through 31. As always, the success of such a large annual tradition relies not only upon the talent, entertainment, food, and other vendors, but also the invaluable contributions of countless volunteers.
The Phoenix man responsible for fatally stabbing Fulton man, Sean D. Leonard, 23 in October was sentenced today (June 28) to serve three to nine years in prison. Markee L. Cathcart, 20 of Phoenix had previously submitted a guilty plea to the charge of manslaughter in the second degree as part of a plea deal proposing a sentence certain.
