The long term grocer in Hannibal, Jim Mirabito of the Village Market IGA has recently confirmed the sale of the store to Tops Friendly Markets. After 50 years of service as Hannibal’s only withstanding full-scale grocery store, the Village Market located at 409 Fulton Street will close officially at 3 p.m. on August 7. A recent press release from Tops officials have confirmed that the store will re-open as a chain of Tops Friendly Markets on August 11.

City Officials Urge Caution Regarding Bears

Last night (July 28), authorities received calls about a bear on the east side of the city. They were able to quickly locate the bear, and with the help of the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Oswego Police, and City of Oswego Animal Control, the bear was diverted out of the area without incident.
