The H. Lee White Maritime Museum will host a replica Viking long-ship, the Draken Harald Hårfagre, Aug. 27 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The ship will be docked at the north end of the West First Street pier in Oswego. The Draken Harald Hårfagre is a Viking long-ship built in the Nordic style of over-lapping planks and is a reconstruction of the “great ships” that were referred to in Norse sagas.
The 27th annual reunion of the descendants of Archibald and Jane (MacCaughan) McCaw along with the descendants of Darius and Huludia (Tilton) Ballou will be held September 3, from noon on at the town square in Redfield. Food, beverages and entertainment will be offered by the Redfield Volunteer Fire Department which hosts its annual Old Home Days concurrently.
Now in finishing its eighth year, the Springboard Mural Project is dedicated to the beautification of the river walk at West Linear Park. Community youth paint murals along the river walk, both sharing their art with the community and helping cover up graffiti.
Gruel has been the model of consistency this season at the Speedway, piloting his Over Drive Marketing U-Pull U-Save Auto Parts No. 50, as he is the only driver this season to have finished in the top ten of every Novelis Supermodified main event in ‘16.

Rotarian Rev. Dave Cramer introduced Rev. Dave Scott to his Fulton Noon Rotary Club at a recent meeting.Club president Helen Hoefer thanked Rev. Scott for a very informative program. Rev. Scott and his wife, Betsy, and their two children are missionaries in Croatia.
Syracuse artist Jacqueline Adamo will open an exhibition titled “Found Objects: New Works and Reinventions” at a free public reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 9, at Oswego State Downtown. Part of SUNY Oswego’s Downtown Artists Series, the exhibition will run through Oct. 28 at the branch of Tyler Art Gallery and the College Store at West First and Bridge streets.
The Fulton Common Council hosted two public hearings at the most recent regular meeting held Tuesday, August 16. In other business, the council approved the sale of two properties obtained by the city through tax foreclosure.
Oswego Speedway veterans Michael Barnes and Syrell Racing are on the doorstep of a Novelis Supermodified track championship at the ‘Steel Palace’ with only current point leader Dave Gruel standing in their way at this Saturday’s $5 admission championship finale presented by Bosco’s Food Market and U-Pull U-Save Auto Parts.
