Joseph Sutton of Fulton earned a Bachelors in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in May. Founded in 1824, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is America’s oldest technological research university.
The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on August 28, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be ham, rice, vegetable, and bread. Donations are not expected but will be accepted.

Tipping fees at the Oswego County transfer stations and landfill have seen another increase after the County Legislature addressed the fees at last month’s meeting (July 14.) Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. said the city of Fulton will consider leaving the garbage business due to the $10 increase approved to begin January 1, 2017.
Any residents of Oswego that would like to make their food dollars go farther may order August Food $en$e packages until 3 p.m. on Friday, August 12. All Oswego area residents may use the program. There are no income limitations and no restrictions on the number of items one may buy.
On Aug. 8, Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow released the city of Oswego 2017 proposed operating budget. While the proposed city budget contains several small cuts to other departments, 16 Oswego Firefighters will be laid off as of January 1, 2017. These cuts represent a 27% loss in available staffing on a daily basis, which will dramatically impair our ability to protect the public.
